Energy

As January comes to a close it is a good time to review the past month and how you used and spent your energy. No doubt the year got off to good start with various resolutions, targets, goals in mind and, if you are super efficient, written down somewhere so that you could monitor progress. Then, as reality sets in, you return to work after the Christmas and New Year break, the wheels of the usual motion begin to turn and you find yourself being drawn back in to all the time consuming ‘must do’s’ and ‘have to’s’ not to mention the ‘should haves’. You find that there just isn’t time to achieve a lot of what you had set out to do or be.

So let’s have a look at the different types of energy and how we have been employing it, I wonder, has it been gainfully or not?

Physical Energy.

Only you will know how much energy you have, whether you use it wisely and whether you do a little exercise each day, even if it is only stretching.

Have you been walking, cycling, swimming? After the Festive over indulgence have you resolved to clean up your eating act?

Remember the journey of a thousand miles always starts off with a few small steps, setting small achievable goals really helps.

Walking every day is the ideal way to exercise, it also the easiest to do. Perhaps you are stuck at a desk all day and it’s dark when you get home. A walk in the park at lunchtime could be just the small goal that would really help to boost your energy.

Notice I use the word COULD rather than should, it frees you up to make a healthy informed choice for yourself.

Eating for energy. Starting the day with a five fruit smoothie to which you have added Linseed, for all your omega requirements for the day, and wolfberries which are simply the best for keeping you in good humour and rejuvenated. This little breakfast addition immediately solves the five fruit a day choice that is now seen as very important to our wellbeing.

At lunchtime a bowl of good home made vegetable soup can also account for some of the vegetable requirements for the day, it is wholesome and it’s slow release during the day ensures an even distribution of energy. Oatcakes rather than bread will help with roughage for the elimination department, keeping to one slice of bread a day is best. Sorry to say that sugars such as biscuits and cakes have the unfortunate habit of zapping energy, they could be avoided by choosing to nibble on the wolfberries or have another piece of fruit.

In short, a little exercise and careful food choices can go a long way to boosting your energy levels.

Mental Energy

Have you been tied to the desk all day, have you allowed yourself to daydream? If not why not?

Thinking all the time is tiring, staring at a computer screen even more so.

Make sure you build in a frequent break system whereby you take yourself off at least once an hour to close your eyes and focus on breathing. You could do this in the toilet or if you are lucky enough to have a QUIET ROOM in your workplace, go there and chill out. Employers are beginning to realise that a stressful workforce is not a happy one and is costing them a fortune. The most visionary businesses are providing a place of peace and calm where their employees can simply just BE.

So take time for yourself to have that peace and calm, don’t push yourself through your body’s natural bio-rhthym.

Dealing with staff and day to day situations can be energy draining and at times exasperating with a feeling of negativity pervading the atmosphere. Choose to change that. Choose to look for the best in everyone, including yourself, and every situation. Encouragement costs nothing, the power of your positive spoken words is awesome and has the amazing vibrational effect of lifting people into a new way of being where they become happier. Be the change that you would like to see in them.

If you allow others to affect you with their behaviour you are effectively allowing them to drain you of your energy. So don’t go there. Protect yourself and maintain your energy without leaking it. Be clear about who the ‘stuff’ or ‘issue’ belongs to, then step back, allow a detached view to bring perspective to the scene. Send the individual positive thoughts, the vibration of those thoughts will reach them and, remembering that what you give out you get back, they will have a positive effect on you too. (If, however you harbour dark thoughts they will also come back and visit you.)

Make sure your office environment is pleasant, clear and tidy with a plant or two to absorb any negativity that is flying about but remember to water them. Nothing worse than half-dead plants adorning office space. Make it your responsibility to water them, don’t wait on someone else to do it. At the same time water yourself, you are the most important plant in your life that you are growing, drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day. Humans are 90% water so we constantly need to top up for optimum brain and body function.

Emotional Energy

We humans simply wouldn’t be humans without our wonderful emotions. During any one single day we can run through the gamut of them and how we deal with them is so important to our overall health and well being. The positive ones are so easy to hold and express, a deep love for someone or something, happiness, as laughter flows easily and naturally. Then there are the more challenging feelings.

How have you been faring on that score?

Is anger healthfully expressed or stuffed down probably into the gut somewhere to appear as indigestion because there is something going on that you just can’t swallow? When you stuffed it down you didn’t verbally express your truth as you see it so you might also get a sore throat as the body always reflects what is going on emotionally.

You don’t feel supported by your team, your boss, your partner in life so you hold that resentment in your body rather than allowing yourself to speak up and out. The lower back becomes a painful reminder to you that you will only be supported by life when you start to support yourself so there is a need to speak up and assert and support yourself first, then the rest of the world will follow suit.

That is only the tip of the iceberg, what about the guy who cut you up on the motorway , how did you react to him? Remember sending out peace and calm will return to you ten fold and so will anything else you put out there.

Spiritual Energy

What is that all about, did you know that you had it?

Anyone who has climbed a mountain, walked along a beautiful beach or bathed in the sun in a fragrant garden, or looked into the eyes of their newly born child are not usually in any doubt that there is an energy that is a creative force for good in this Universe. Humanity has entered in and hijacked it in so many ways, taking it over, selling it, forming clubs, inviting you to join and financially support a variety of named Gods in lots of different ways. How complicated!

It all takes away from the simplicity, the essence of this energy that has a vibrational energetic Source, and as we are all part of that organising energy it is within us and therefore there is no need to reach out for it. It simply is, it is within, it is the power within you, me and Joe Bloggs.

It is easily contactable by getting really quiet, stilling your mind and meditating or visualising. This brings serenity, peace of mind and seems to give you lots more time in the day to do what you need to do. So invest time in Being to get more DONE!

Focussing Energy

Remember whatever you are focussing your energy on expands in your life.

If you are dwelling on negative thoughts and situations you will get more of the same if you are focussing with intention on achieving new goals then you will succeed. Choose your thoughts, monitor your words, feel and deal with your feelings, they are all creating your reality and they are doing it right now. So focus on Health, Wealth and Happiness and have a great 2007.
